Craps Lay Bet
-
A lay bet is the opposite of a buy bet, where a player bets on a 7 to
roll before the number that is laid.
-
Just like the buy bet, lay bets pay true odds, but because the lay bet is
the opposite of the buy bet, the payout is reversed.
-
Therefore players get 1
to 2 for the numbers 4 and 10,
-
2 to 3 for the numbers 5 and 9,
-
and 5 to 6
for the numbers 6 and 8.
-
A 5% commission (vigorish, vig, juice) is charged
up front on the possible winning amount.
-
For example: A $40 Lay Bet on the 4 would pay $20 on a win. The 5% vig
would be $1 based on the $20 win. (NOT $2 based on the $40 bet as the way
buy bet commissions are figured)
A $60 Lay Bet on the 5 would pay $40 on a win. The 5% vig
would be $2 based on the $40 win.
- Lay bets can be made on any of the point numbers (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) at any time
- Lay bets are ALWAYS working
- Lay bets can be increased, decreased, taken off, called off and moved to another point number. The vig is returned when the lay bet is taken down and the vig MUST be re-adjusted when moved, increased or decreased.
- You can Lay the point number or any non point numbers at any time.
- Lay bet on the 4 or 10 should be an even number. Pays 1 to 2
- Lay bet on the 5 or 9 should be a bet divisible by 3.
Example: $75 Lay 5 NOT an $80 lay 5. Pays 2 to 3
- Lay bet on the 6 or 8 should be a bet divisible by 6 or in $25 unit bets where the extra dollar pays the vig.
Example: $60 Lay 8 pays $50. Pays 5 to 6
$100 lay bet 6. The wager is $96 to win $80 and the extra $4 pays the vig. 5% of $80 win is $4.
